Grammar 14: Expresar las horas y las fechas
Horas
- La hora entera se escribe con o'clock. It's one o'clock
- Si no llega a la media, se usa 'past'. 10:05 Five past ten. 10:28 Twenty eight past ten
- Si pasa de la media, se usa 'to'. 10:40 Twenty to eleven.
- Los cuartos. 01:15 It's a quarter past one. 11:45 It's a quarter to twelve
- La media. 11:30 It's half past eleven
Fechas
- Hoy es 14. Today is 14th
- Al decir que algo tiene lugar cierto día, se usa la palabra on. He always comes on the 22nd of July
- También se usa 'on' delante de los días de la semana. I go to the cinema on Sunday
- Week: Monday | Tuesday | Wednesday | Thursday | Friday | Saturday | Sunday
- Months: January | February | March | April | May | June | July | August | September | Octuber | November | December
- Seasons of the year: Spring, summer, autumn and winter
- Los meses del año y los días de la semana se escriben siempre en inglés con mayúsculas y las estaciones del año con minúscula.
- He usually goes to London in August. Today is the 14th of July
- Para expresar el año: 1976 Nineteen hundred and seventy-six. Abreviado Nineteen, seventy-six
- In the year nineteen hundred and six (1906)
- Para decir el ... que viene. The next month... the next year... the next day
- Para decir el ... anterior. The last Tuesday... the last month... the last year
