Pretérito imperfecto = pasado del verbo to be + gerundio del verbo que se conjuga

- Se emplea para designar una acción interrumpida por otra corta: I was reading when he came in.
- Una acción paralela a otra larga (con while): I was reading while he was studying his lessons
