Grammar 30: Los verbos compuestos

En inglés hay un gran nº de verbos a los que se les puede añadir partículas modificando su significado.

  • to come in. Come in!
  • to come into. He came into the room
  • to come out. Come out. He come out of the house
  • to come up. Come up now
  • to come down. Come down at once
  • to come across. I came across a difficult word
  • to come back. We came back in the morning
• to give
  • to give up. He has given up drinking
  • to give back. She gave me back the dictionary I lent her
• to get
  • to get up. When the school-master came into the classroom, all the children got up
    I always get up at half-past eight in the morning
    to get in. This is the trunk. Get in
  • to get into. Get into the drunk
  • to get out. He got out at once. Get out of this house
  • to get to. He got to the office late
  • to get on. How are you getting on with your German?
  • to get off. I'll get off at the next stop
• to go
  • to go out. Go out at once! | Go out of this house
    to go in. He went in
  • to go into. He went into the church
  • to go on. Let's go on
